How To: The Best Micro SD Cards for Your Galaxy S9

The Best Micro SD Cards for Your Galaxy S9

In many ways, the Galaxy S9 is a holdout from the golden days of Android. It's one of the last major flagships to sport a headphone jack, it has an impressive array of internal sensors, and perhaps more importantly, it's got a micro SD card slot.

If you're in the market for an SD card for your S9, there are a few things you should know. First, Samsung added support for up to 400 GB of expandable storage on the Galaxy S9. Beyond that, the S9 supports all the latest SD card specs, including class 10, the new U3 UHS speed class, and read/write speeds of up to 100 MB/s and 90 MB/s, respectively. In layman's terms, that means there are some great SD cards for the Galaxy S9, so we'll link out the best options for any budget below.

The Absolute Best (>$50)

If you'll settle for nothing less than the best, then there's really only one choice at the moment — SanDisk's 400 GB card. More cards with this storage (and potentially faster read/write speeds) are on the way, but this is it for now.

Balanced Price & Performance ($20-$50)

If you're willing to spend a little bit extra above the bare minimum, you can get a great micro SD card at a very reasonable price.

Cheap & Effective (<$20)

If you're not looking to spend more than $20 on extra storage, then you'll max out at around 128 GB. Nonetheless, these micro SD cards have the latest technology, so read and write speeds will be super-fast.

This article is the first google hit and based on what it says, I bought a 400gb SD card.

After more digging, I found Samsung's site said the capacity was a 512gb SD card. What was your source when you said 400gb was the max?
