In many ways, the Galaxy S9 is a holdout from the golden days of Android. It's one of the last major flagships to sport a headphone jack, it has an impressive array of internal sensors, and perhaps more importantly, it's got a micro SD card slot.

This article is the first google hit and based on what it says, I bought a 400gb SD card.
After more digging, I found Samsung's site said the capacity was a 512gb SD card. What was your source when you said 400gb was the max?
The max is indeed 400 GB. It went up to 512 on the Galaxy Note 9, but not the S9. Here's Samsung's support article about it.
